HOW TO WASH YOUR BACKPACK OR TEXTILE BAG:
1. Read the bag’s washing instructions carefully. Some textile bags can be washed in a washing machine, however, we recommend that you wash by hand so it does not wear too much on the material. Be careful if the bag has leather detailing.
2. Make a water bath and add a gentle detergent, for quantity see package. Let the bag lay in the water bath for a few minutes before performing the wash itself.
4. Rub gently. Use a soft brush for coarser dirt and stains.
5. Rinse thoroughly. Carefully squeeze out the water and then dry the bag in an airy, dry place. Avoid heating elements such as drying cabinets, hair dryers and such.
7. If necessary, re-impregnate the bag. Some re-impregnations are done in the washing step itself, others with the help of impregnation spray. The common denominator, however, is that the bag must be clean of dirt, grease and oil as well as detergent and rinse aid residues.
REGARDING IMPREGNATION SPRAY:
Impregnation spray is usually superfluous for your bags. Instead, follow the general tips at the beginning of the post. Should you, despite this, want to impregnate your bag, you spray an even layer over the outside of the bag, then wipe off excess liquid and let the material dry properly. Repeat as needed, usually 1-2 times a year.
GENERAL TIPS:
To keep your backpack, or bag in textile, fresh for as long as possible, it is a good idea to empty, clean and ventilate often, preferably after each use. This reduces the risk of mould infestation and bad odour. If you have accidentally spilt something in the bag, it is important to wash and ventilate immediately so that the smell does not settle. It is also important to let the backpack or bag dry thoroughly if it has become wet. Preferably dry at room temperature, avoid heating elements such as drying cabinets, hair dryers, dryers, etc. Regarding storage, it is a good idea to store your bag in a dark place, free from moisture and heat, and avoid direct sunlight as this can fade the colour of the fabric. Never refill your bag to the maximum as this can tear the handle and shoulder strap, and even break your bag. Pack the essentials and choose a larger bag rather than packing too heavy.
